April Theme Day: Red

My brain almost turned into a knot thinking - "where am I going to find RED in this city?", "Zagreb's color is blue, where to find red anything....", and similar questions were whizzing in my brain and it went on and on.... and then it dawned on me. Duh! A typical Zagreb thing, found everywhere in the city, especially open markets, is "Sestinski kisobran" (umbrella/parasol from Sestine; Sestine is Zagreb's neighborhood). I believe I've already posted a few of these, but it doesn't matter, enjoy Zagreb's redness for the day:

March theme day: Passageway

First one, a hallway at my workplace, right in front of my office. The cone was there to avoid two broken tiles (photo taken with my Nokia N78):

February theme day: Wood - Didjeridu

Today, we're going to visit a land far far away from Croatia -> Australia! I have a piece of wood that I use as a sculpture, which was given to me as a present by my Melbourne-dwelling friend. The piece of wood is Didjeridu, or a (hand painted) Aboriginal instrument. The wood is hollowed out (from the inside out) by termites and cleaned to be then used as an instrument. I have never learned how to play it properly, but I can make sounds on it using my palm :).

Theme day: Best photo of 2009

This was very difficult choice. I always find people photos to be most challenging as well as most rewarding if you get them right. Sanja and her daughter won my favorite vote for this year:



The photo was taken while they were on a small merry-go-round in motion, with almost full zoom on my telephoto lens, without a tripod, and to this day, I have absolutely no clue how I managed to focus the photo....

November theme day: doorway

This "doorway" is a part of the National Library building. It's an entrance for the fire department and it also seems to lead to the basement part of the building. Very ugly and very weird, IMHO, so I added a filter which inverted the photo to make it just a bit nicer. :) Good thing about it is that it's hidden away and visible only from the parking lot.
