Just another corner?

A corner of a building in the Old town was made as a sculpture, to honor Matija Gubec:

  1. The whole picture reminds me of a skull. The projection of the building is like eyebrows. The scalloped part is the nose. The tongue is hanging out with the head of a person on it and the chin had a beard.

  2. So interesting. Our "old town" is too new to have anything like this.

  3. European facade sculptures are so fascinating to me. This one looks like an addition though, or changed from something else or recently repaired.

Thanks for the link, Mirela – for curious Georges like me. ;)

  4. Great building detail - it's sort of funny to see him sticking out of the corner like that!

  5. So very interesting. Except it seems rather painful, hanging by his hair like that!

  7. @Jacob&Leif - :-)
@Lily - The building's (the Parliament) facade has been renovated in the past decade. It was bought for the Parliament in 1737 and then built/renovated several times since then.
@Hilda - I tried to find info on when the sculpture was added (that's my assumption, I don't think it was in the original building blueprints from 18th ct)...
@Abe - I still can't see what you see, but it amazes me how a photo/sculpture can convey completely different POV or image in our minds
@Kelly - this one is old enough, however I don't believe the sculpture is older than a century or two...
